The importance of the physical and emotional safety
of
each student
is paramount in Lumberton.
We take the issues of bullying very seriously.
Bullying is another name for harassment; it is the willful, conscious desire to
hurt, threaten, or frighten someone.
Bullying can be physical, verbal, or emotional. Bullying happens when a
person or group of people want to have power over another and use their power
to get their way, at the expense of someone else. Bullying can also happen through cyberspace
through the use of emails, text messaging, and other less direct methods.
"IT'S
COOL TO CARE"
is an anti-bullying
initiative in Lumberton ISD that is aimed at taking a positive approach to the problem. With the help of everyone in our school
system, we will be successful in creating a school in which each student is
treated well and feels safe. Each
counselor/assistant principal has planned activities for their campus.
As a district, on Nov.18th., each person is asked to
wear blue
for "
Blue
Wednesday
" as a statement of
peace and solidarity
in support of creating schools and communities where
"
It's Cool to Care
".
